The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer delivered the first re-engineered and modernized narrow-bodied E190-E2 aircraft . The recipient was the Norwegian regional airline Widerøe, which will begin operating the aircraft on domestic flights as early as April, the manufacturer said .

The transferred aircraft became the first representative of the new E-Jet E2 family with passenger capacity from 80 to 146 people, which also includes a less capacious version of the E175-E2 and a more spacious E195-E2 (all of them will be produced before 2021). E190-E2 accommodates 114 people. in a one-class layout. In total, the Scandinavian carrier concluded contracts for 15 E190-E2 aircraft (3 firm orders with the right to purchase another 12 aircraft). The total value of the transaction is about $ 873 million.

According to Embraer, compared to the basic version of the E190 in a modernized aircraft, 75% of new systems, including Pratt & Whitney PW1900G gear motors, as well as the wing and chassis. Based on the results of the tests, the aircraft was 1.3% more economical than originally claimed (the E190-E2 is 17.3% more economical than the base aircraft).

The range of flight in conditions of high temperatures and high altitude is increased by 600 n miles (1110 km) compared to aircraft of this class. E190-E2 also has longer service intervals compared to other narrow-body aircraft (10,000 h for basic maintenance). This means an additional 15 days of operation over 10 years compared to representatives of the previous generation E-Jets family. Other advantages include the ability to quickly retrain pilots for a new type of aircraft. They need only 2.5 days of training, and there is no need for a full-flight simulator.

The aircraft received a certificate of the type from the Brazilian, American and European aviation authorities at the end of February 2018. The manufacturer proceeded to flight tests in May 2016 and involved four prototypes of the aircraft in them. The first delivery took place on schedule.

As of the end of 2017, the Embraer portfolio included 106 remotored E195-E2, 74 E190-E2 and 100 E175-E2. Among the customers of E190-E2 is Air Astana. Tajik private company Somon Air is considering taking eight such aircraft. Belavia is also looking at planes of this type .
