Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is closing the most loaded runway for reconstruction

In Amsterdam Schiphol (Netherlands), one of the six runways will be closed for reconstruction. The upgraded runway (18R-36L) ceases to accept and send aircraft from March 25 to April 15, the air harbor informs .

Aviation Week. Closed on the reconstruction of the strip is the most intensively maintained, writes Aviation Week. It daily serves aircraft, including such types of aircraft as the wide-bodied two-deck Boeing 747 and Airbus A380. As explained in Schiphol, the period from March 25 to April 15 was chosen due to the fact that at this time the most favorable weather conditions are expected, which will make it possible to reconstruct the runway and the laid-in facility in the shortest possible time in the tense summer season.

Work on upgrading the band will be conducted around the clock. Runway and taxiways, as well as renewal of light-signal equipment.

For the duration of the reconstruction, the maintenance schedule for the aircraft on the closed runway will be redistributed to the remaining lanes. So, during the daytime, the load on the bands 09-27, 18L-36R and 18C-36C will increase, whereas at night the runways 18C-36C and 06-24 will be mainly operated .
