Airbus confirmed plans to reduce production of the largest wide-body aircraft A380 to six aircraft per year by 2020, Reuters reported .

Airbus has repeatedly slowed down the pace of assembling two-deck aircraft, the demand for which is gradually falling. Initially, it was assumed that since 2019 the company will produce eight such cars per year, whereas in 2018 it was planned to assemble 12 aircraft of this type. In early January, Airbus did not exclude the termination of production of the car, but soon the A380 received a new order from Emirates (includes a firm contract for 20 aircraft with an option for 16 aircraft), which actually saved the program, extending the production of double-deck aircraft for another 10 years.

In connection with the decline in the production rate of the A380, the company plans to reduce the number of employees. This will affect factory workers in France, Germany, Britain and Spain, but the aircraft builder promises to employ employees in the production of other aircraft. In total, it is planned to reduce the staff to 3,700 people. taking into account the slowdown in the rate of assembly of another aircraft - the military transport A400M.

According to experts, with deliveries at the level of six machines per year, the A380 program will generate losses. Airbus still expects that an order from Emirates will encourage other operators to place new orders for these aircraft .
