The Aeroflot group, which, in addition to the carrier of the same name, includes the operators Russia, Avrora and Pobeda, plans to expand the fleet to 409 aircraft by 2022. Such data follows from the updated figures for 2018-2022, published following the results of the meeting board of directors. This is more than the initial plans, announced in May 2017. Then it was supposed to increase the park by 2022 to 402 aircraft .
The carrier explained the decision to correct the forecast by the forthcoming removal of infrastructure restrictions in the base airport for the main airline Sheremetyevo. Nevertheless, the plans for the park at the end of 2018 were also changed in the direction of increase. If in October 2017, Aeroflot's top managers forecasted to receive approximately 44 aircraft in 2018, which would expand the fleet of the company to almost 350 cars, according to the results of the December meeting of the Board of Directors, the total number of aircraft in the group's aggregate fleet at the end of next year will be 361 board. Along the way, the group expects the growth of passenger traffic and the maintenance of a high occupancy rate of seats. In accordance with the previously announced development strategy, the park's growth will be achieved, among other things, thanks to the commissioning of new Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ 100) aircraft, as well as 50 narrow-body MS-21s.
