"Helicopters of Russia" have begun flight tests of the Mi-171E multipurpose helicopter equipped with advanced engines and a bearing system, the holding informs. The testing takes place at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (U-UAZ) until the end of 2017 .

The machine is equipped with a "new rotor and an X-shaped steering screw with blades made of polymer composite materials, an upgraded automatic skewer, a Russian-made VK-2500PС-03 engine with a digital control system of the FADEC type, and a modified stabilizer and a keel beam." Such innovations allow increasing the efficiency of the machine. According to the managing director of U-UAZ Leonid Belykh, the new carrier system made it possible to increase the maximum speed and range of aircraft flight, as well as its load capacity on the external suspension. In addition, innovations enhance the reliability of the machine in difficult conditions, such as high temperatures and high mountains. The noise level will be reduced due to the new shape of the rotor blades and steering screws. A distinctive feature of the carrier system is its reduced mass. At the same time, the resources of the components will be increased, and the labor intensity of the service will be reduced. For example, on upgraded VK-2500PS-03 engines (this motor is also installed on a new Mi-171A2 helicopter) with a capacity of 2,700 hp. on emergency mode the resource is increased by 1.5 times. In addition, the machine is equipped with a "digital anti-icing system for composite rotor blades of the carrier and steering screws." The best characteristic of the power plant is to support the digital engine management system of the FADEC type. It is designed to adapt control to external conditions, reduce the mass and volume of the electronic system units of the system and connecting cables. The system also synchronizes the operation modes of the power plant according to the turbocharger rotation frequency. The Safir 5K / G MI auxiliary power unit, equipped with a 20kW generator, provides significant engine startup and fuel economy .
