The company Airbus has started the final assembly of the prototype of the wide-body aircraft A330-800, part of the A330neo family, the European manufacturer reports. The first flight of the prototype is expected in the middle of 2018, and the commissioning of the aircraft is scheduled for 2019. The A330-800 will replace the A330-200, the deep modification of which it is. Both models have the same fuselage length. This aircraft will complement the A330neo family, which also includes an elongated and more spacious version of the A330-900 (comes to replace the A330-300). The design of the A330-800 is 99% identical with the A330-900, including the glider and the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine. This gives the operator a great advantage in choosing the type of aircraft, depending on the need for flight range and passenger capacity. Aircraft are equipped with wing tips of the sharklet type. The wing span is increased to 64 m (4 m more than the A330ceo), which improves the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft. The maximum takeoff weight of the Airbus A330-800 is 242 tons in the basic version, the range of flight is up to 13,900 km, passenger capacity is 257 people. in a typical three-class configuration. In the mono-class configuration, the aircraft can carry 406 passengers. The advantages of the A330-800 are the reduction in fuel consumption and the reduction in operating costs compared to the previous generation of Airbus aircraft. In addition, the variant A330-800 with a take-off weight of 251 tons was recently introduced, which makes it possible to increase the aircraft's range to 15,196 meters . ———————————————————— AVIONIC - Magazine about aviation ✈ 📃
