The International Air Transport Association (IATA) together with the International Council of Airports (ACI) have developed a plan that involves the technological re-equipment of the air transport industry. As explained in the Association, this will increase the efficiency of its work and relieve the problem points, which is especially important in the light of the expected twofold increase in passenger traffic by 2036. The program NEXTT (New Experience in Travel and Technologies; "New experience in travel and technology") provides for the upgrade of technologies primarily at the level of ground infrastructure. In addition to the actual technological development, the plan involves unifying the systems and principles underlying the functioning of this infrastructure. This will bring the work of the entire industry to a common denominator, which will significantly improve its efficiency. It is also planned to improve the convenience of passengers, whose actions for the trip must be reduced to a minimum. The changes called for by the authors of the program are divided into three categories. First, it is proposed to reduce the load on the airports by withdrawing part of the processes (registration, luggage, safety checks, etc.) beyond their limits. Secondly, the authors of the plan call for the automation of some of the processes related to aviation security, baggage tracking, identity identification, etc. Third, the program provides for an expanded application of predictive modeling and artificial intelligence, which should accelerate decision-making. Being rather a framework document, the program nevertheless contains an element of specifics, which sets the development vector for different components of the air transport industry. For example, to make travel more convenient for passengers, the authors plan to implement a single electronic record that would combine data on the ticket and passenger purchases. It is proposed to further develop applications responsible for the interaction of airports and airlines with passengers. These services are supposed to be provided with settings that make it possible to customize the functionality to the needs of the client (frequency of notifications and other criteria that determine the behavior of the application). Passengers are invited to provide a choice, where to take luggage - at the airport or at any other point, up to the house or place of work. In this case, the process of luggage delivery is planned to be simplified from the point of view of the client, attaching data on bags to the entry about the identity of the traveler. The baggage is planned to be monitored throughout the trip. Registration for the flight in its existing form is planned to be replaced with biometric identification, which can be arranged outside the airport. This technology is also expected to be introduced when checking the identity when entering the country. The security check is planned to be accelerated by the introduction of scanners, through which it will be possible to pass without stopping. Enhanced security checks are supposed to be made selective, introducing the principle of risk management . ———————————————— AVIONIC - Magazine about aviation ✈ 📃
